Burdock is one of the most annoying weeds about at this time of year if you are a horse or long haired dog. The burrs have tiny hooks on each spine and are very good at getting tangled in long hair (NB. keep it away from your toddlers head too)

However these wee burrs are great fun to play with. Like natures velcro you can create all sorts of fun games and things with them. 

You can find Burdock in hedgerows, on moor land and around verges and it looks like this:

Today we made Burdock Burr caterpillars.

We were inspired by this funny looking guy we saw at the loch lommond RSPB reserve last week. 

This was my wee boys creation which he decorated with some wild flowers :)
