First things first; off to burn off some excess energy in the rain. Waterproofs on and time for a splash in the puddles and a hunt for different shaped leaves. You want to collect leaves with a decent skeleton so they are easy to take a rubbing from.

This is a very easy wee activity after a wet walk in the rain. Once everyone is dry and you have had a snack to refuel, then you can get started. Pat leaves dry with a tea towel if they are still soggy!

Take any wax crayon and use on its side to rub across the paper. The leaf magically appears and it is fab how much detail you can see! You may need to hold paper steady or tape it to the table to stop it sliding about.

Once they have got the hang of it you can create loads of different leaf rubbings on plain or coloured paper.

After you have created a few different leaf rubbings you can let your imagination run wild and create a leaf crown by cutting out the leaf shapes and gluing or taping them onto a strip of decorated paper :)
